Where is Marva @ today, what’s she up too, Umm…..When the elevator door opened, a young man suited up in a dark and light brown pinstriped Dolce and Gabbana, was exiting. He had about two inches of platinum spiked hair, and a blue money bag in his hand. The three of us walked onto the elevator and turned around to face the door. I noticed the young man was entering into the door we had just come out of. As we rode the elevator down, reality tried to sink in. I just couldn’t believe this was happening to me, no, no, no, that’s not true, I didn‘t want to believe this was happening to me. I closed my eyes and imagined myself in my car heading home with a nice aged rib eye steak and a fresh crisp Caesar salad from Mario’s Deli, nicely wrapped in Mario’s signature bag; lying in the passenger seat of my car. Oh yes, and I am headed home to eat, straighten up the kitchen, wait for Mom to call, rest and read my book. I was so deep in that thought; I even smiled. When I heard the sound of the elevator bell, I snapped back to reality. I realized the two policemen in the elevator with me were taking me to Fulton County jail. I cannot be going to jail, this is not happening, this is not possible! SHAME IN ME excerpt. So, my plan was to return to Chicago, wo
So, my plan was to return to Chicago, work for a small accounting firm, get some hands on experience about the do’s and don’ts of running a small business and then establish my own accounting firm. That was my plan, however two days before graduation, while packing up my dorm to return to Chicago; I received a certified letter from Beckman and Jacobs Law Firm. They are located in downtown Mableton and are considered the largest and most prestigious law firm in the Atlanta region and, they are referred by other states. They were impressed with my 4.9 grade point average. My major was accounting with a minor in statistical math. The letter informed me I was a candidate being considered for the only accountant position available. I was extremely flattered to be considered for the position, so I decided to call and confirm my interview. I interviewed the following Thursday and two weeks later I started working. Only three weeks after graduation and I had a job, did I praise me some Lord! You have read an excerpt from the book SHAME IN ME, a book that stimulates ‘inner healing’.

Here is an excerpt from the book, SHAME IN ME……I turned my head towards the sound just as a lady was stepping into the room. She looked to be in her late fifties, dressed in a linen and silk blend powder blue Saint John pant suit and had impeccable blonde highlights in her short cropped hair cut. She was walking towards us with a clip board in her hand and it was full of papers. I noticed how she began intently grabbing at her small frameless eyeglasses that were hanging around her neck and gently placed them on her nose; never looking up. She stopped and stood next to one of the black chairs by the table and briefly glanced up over her glasses at me. She began flipping pages and started speaking with a deep Georgian accent, as if she were reading a transcript. “Marva Montgomery, you are being charged with ‘repeated theft by intent’. You are in possession of store merchandise totaling twelve thousand, seven hundred forty one dollars and eighty two cents. This merchandise was acquired by you through means of insufficient funds, and is hereby considered stolen property.”

Let’s see what “young love” is doing
Let’s see what “young love” is doing today…….Twelve fifteen, here comes Eric through my window. We had an uncomfortable moment at first. I jumped up off the bed and stood straight up. When our eyes met, we both felt embarrassment. He turned red and looked down on the floor and I started rubbing my hands together. He turned away from facing me, and sat on the edge of the bed with his back to me. He started talking as if he were reading a script. He told me that he loved me and wanted us to live together until we were of age to marry. We could stay right here until he got his scholarship and then we could move together wherever he went to college. I listened to him. He had everything mapped out for us. He would work part time and we could stay in school. He got some paper and pencil out of my notebook, and wrote out a budget. He said if we could follow the budget, we could make it. I just stood there unable to move. It was too much for me to comprehend at once. I was thinking about how it seemed that Grammy was just gone to the store to pick up a few things, and would be back any moment. And my next thought would be about what cousin Bertie looked like. My imagination had Cousin Bertie looking like Grammy and all of her kids looked like me and they were all standing in a straight line next to her, and all of them had snotty noses. In he comes with this plan, I couldn’t absorb it, so all I said was “We’ll see.” That night we made love. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Eric went to school every day and every night, after midnight, he would come through my window. Ump, ump, ump; what has Mat done now?…
Ump, ump, ump; what has Mat done now?….Miss Addie’s knocking on the back door is what woke me. One of the neighbors had made us a casserole dish with chunks of chicken and rice, but both of us picked over our dinner, neither one of us could eat. Miss Addie and I washed up the dishes. She went to the living room sofa and I went back to bed. I thought about calling Eric but I had to think of what I would say first. While I was getting my thoughts together, the door bell rang. It was Miss Addie’s grandson, Milton with a small black and white T.V. for her to watch. Grammy and I didn’t watch T.V… I remember us having one, when it stopped working, Grammy never replaced it. She started taking me to the local library every two weeks, so I read a lot and Grammy would needlepoint. Miss Addie was so happy to get the T.V.; Milton stayed and hooked it up for her. When he left I called Eric. He said he would see me at midnight and we hung up. I was trying to figure out what we were going to do now that our relationship went to another level. I loved Eric, but having sex with him confused me. He was my best friend, he was my only friend. 15 years old and in a fix fo sho…..Let’s see what Mat is up to today. Eric and I would peck each other on the lips before today. Our relationship was one of friendship, not sex. We loved each other very deeply, as friends and really never thought of a sexual relationship at all. We knew we would always be together, that was just a given. Whenever the topic of sex would come up, we would listen and or comment, but the subject of the two of us having sex just never came up. So, now, it was awkward. I was thinking, nobody ever said the first time would hurt. I was feeling embarrassed. I got up and went to the bathroom and when I came back to my room he had left. I crawled under the covers and went to sleep. Order your copy of ABANDONED NO MORE today from your local bookstore or on-line retailer to find out what happens to Mat and how she overcomes her abandonment issue.
Don’t want to miss this paragraph, Mat
Don’t want to miss this paragraph, Mat and Eric, ooh……..I went to my class and as soon as I sat down, I started to cry. Someone in the class walked up to the teacher and told her about Grammy. My teacher told me she was sorry I lost my grandmother and sent me to the office. I waited there until the Vice Principal walked me to the nurse’s office. The nurse told me to go home and stay home if I needed to. The Vice Principal told me since school would be out in less than two weeks and I had excellent grades they could give me my grades now if necessary. I sat there as tears slowly ran down my face and watched their expressions; they were so professional I felt no compassion coming from them at all. I felt like I wasn’t wanted and began crying uncontrollably. They called Eric into the nurse’s office and told him to take me home and to watch me. We were both given excuses to stay home me, for the rest of the school year, Eric for the day. So we went to a drive thru, got some breakfast sausages then to my house. We went straight to my room. He ate, I picked over my food, and we sat on the bed and started talking about some of our times with Grammy. I started crying, he held me and we started kissing and before we realized it, we were in trouble. This is from chapter 5 of the book; ABANDONED NO MORE.
